BAPP - What have I been doing?
So today has been a day of reflecting on what I have learnt so far in Module 1 and reading through all of my notes from my 'study sessions' and putting it into a concept map.
I found this extremely beneficial as I had been worried that I was going off in lots of tangents during my learning and that I was not on the 'right track.'
What I have learned today is that everything I have been researching and learning is somehow interlinked and related to this course, my practice and my life. I started to connect everything that was related by drawing lines to connect them and then stopped as, I soon realised, they were all interconnected in some way. This then brought to my back to my reading of Adesola's blog post where she talks about 'Linking ideas in a Rhizome rather than just thinking in a linear manor (roots tree).' This made me look into 'Rhizome' further and a lightbulb switched. As you can see below, all of the knowledge I have gained so far is connected and although it may look messy and confusing, it is beginning to make sense to me that this course is not just about completing an essay and ticking boxes but about collecting, experiencing, gaining and knowing where to get information from in order to improve on your practice.

Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteThis concept map is such a good idea, I'm definitely going to do my own. I agree with going off on a tangent! It's one of my fears.
Thankyou for sharing!
Hi Olivia,
DeleteYes, I found that doing this was so beneficial! Happy Mapping!
Paul
Hi Paul,
ReplyDeleteI found your mindmap so interesting to look at. It is so true that everything is linked and only when we have looked into this can we really find our practice.
Your point about gaining and knowing where to get information from really stuck out to me! Today I have been searching on the web and trying to filter through to find relevant content! Its not until you start doing it that you realise how much information is out there!!
I look forward to reading your next post!
Hi Emma,
DeleteThank you for reading my blog!
Yes! It is not until you fully start to delve into each topic that you start to join the dots and realise that, in one way or another, everything is linked.
I look forward to researching this further and hearing your thoughts,
Paul
Great post Paul, thank you. I too have been going off on lots of tangents and although I sit down to reflect on one certain area I end up reflecting on something completely different as, like you say they all seem to be interlinked. A map is such a good idea, I think I will give it a try. Thanks again!

Hi Jen, I am glad that I am not the only one that feels like they have been going off in lots of tangents but yes I would recommend doing a little map of your research as it really helped me understand form a visual perspective what I have learned so far. Paul
DeleteHi Paul,
ReplyDeleteI definitely go off on a tangent...I can't help myself! I think you can see it in most of my blogs where I will start on topic and then stray off into something else! I love your map...I feel that's how creative minds work...it looks messy but it's organised mess! <3
Bronte :)
Hi Bronte,
DeleteI love your blogs!! Thanks for reading mine!! This map really helped me understand, from a visual side of things, what I had been researching and how it was all interlinked. Paul :)
