The Start

Where to start? What should I do? When will I understand?

These were the questions that kept racing around in my head as I started this course.

It has been extremely daunting; not really knowing if you are doing things correctly, if you are on the right track and no one telling you what to do.

As a performer, I have spent a lot of my years in education being told what to do, where to do it and when to do it but now I am learning that there are many other ways of learning.

From reading through previous blog posts from past students, I know understand that it is ok to feel slightly confused and lost, it is now about exploring the road of learning and my practice.

A little bit about me. I am lucky enough to be doing this course with my partner, Alex Wignall. I sustained quite a terrifying injury whilst performing on my last job which has put performing professionally on hold for the time being. My goal is to, one day, become a Primary School teacher and with this qualification it will open up quicker routes into teaching and allow more opportunity in later life. I am currently teaching dance at a few of my local dance school throughout the week, which I completely adore.

I am both excited and anxious about the journey ahead that we have started and look forward to sharing the journey with you all.

  2. Hi Paul,

I really do believe that performers make the best teachers! I love leading my class with music, drama and dancing. It really brings education to life. I'm so glad we are all feeling the same way...it's good to know I'm not alone!

    1. Hi Bronte,

I couldn't agree more with that statement that 'performers make the best teachers' it is such a passion of mine to inspire and shape the kids into the best humans they can be, and what better way than through dance/singing and acting!!
