Module 2 and Welcome Back Skypes

We had our 'Welcome Back Skype' this week to begin the new term. I am now starting Module 2 and it was refreshing, that most of us on the call, felt both excited and apprehensive about the course restarting.

It has been a crazy couple of months for us all. Covid-19 has somewhat turned our world upside down. We have had to adapt to a 'new world.' A world in which we wear masks, use technology more, work remotely and change how we go about our  daily lives.

During the Skype call we discussed:

Unihub

Unihub is where you will find all of the course information. Both the Module Handbook and course Handbook can be found here, along with all research resources and Turnitin submission portals.

Handbooks

We discussed the importance of reading the Module Handbook at least twice and continuing to refer to it through the duration of the course.  I find it useful to print it as a hard copy, as do others, and highlight and note take throughout.  It is also interesting that upon re-reading it you find new pieces of information that start to 'click' when working through the course.

Skype and Blogs

The BAPP Programme is a community and about gaining knowledge.  Both Skype calls and Blog posts are a great way of communicating with fellow students on ideas and queries about the Module you are completing.  They are also a great way of reading about people experiences who have went through the Module you're completing and gaining a better understanding of what to expect.

As I worked through Module 1 I had many experiences: feeling lost, not knowing if what I was doing/researching was correct and feeling like I was out of my depth.  However, what I hope to do more in Module 2 is relish in this feeling more and gain more knowledge and a better understanding of my practice.

I hope you all had a lovely Summer and look forward to reading everyone blogs!

  1. Hi Paul,
I feel the same way! Excited and scared...It was nice connecting with everyone again on the skypes. I've done a couple of blogs on module 2 now so feel free to have a look. https://alysmay.blogspot.com/2020/09/little-wonders.html
I am also excited about the knowledge I am going to not only gain but put to use :) Alys x

    1. Hi Alys,
It is a scary and exiting time! I have been a little overwhelmed with starting back again and I feel like I have been in a crazy head spin for a couple of days trying to work out where to even begin! However, after reflecting on Module One, I know that as long as we put in the work and continue to refer back to the handbook and blog we will all be fine! Paul :) x

  2. Hi Paul, thank you for your post! It's of a great help as a quick recap and preparation to how I should approach the new module, as I wasn't able to attend either of the skype sessions. I believe after going through Module 1, we will be able to go into Module 2 with a bit of a clearer mind. Looking forward to read more of your blogs, Theresa

    1. Hi Theresa,
Yes, the Skype's were lovely to start the course again! I hate missing the calls, but that is why I love reading people's blogs, even if I had joined the call to see what they have taken out of the call, which may be different to what I had taken out of it.
FYI, I believe the welcome back Skype's are available on the UniHub Page?
I look forward to reading your blogs this term and seeing the journey in which Module Two takes us.
      Paul :) x

  3. Hi Paul! I felt the exact same! I still feel a little lost and confused but as i'm reading through the handbook (printed too!) things are slowly starting to click! what i fear most is spending loads of time researching something and then to find out its wrong! but i'm keeping a positive open mind that wont happen! haha hope you are well! 1. Hi Chloe,
Thank you for reading my blog! I read your blog and see that you have rejoined the course! Welcome to Module Two and starting this journey with us all! It is a fear of mine also: 'spending loads of time researching something and to then find out its wrong', however, what I learnt from Module One was that somehow everything is connected. Rhizome is something that I have been looking into, as Adesola discusses it a lot, and it has made me feel a little more settled in that feeling of going off in the wrong tangent. I look forward to reading your blogs and chatting more with you over the term, Paul :) x
